Mechanical Design Engineer
Role:
As a contract position, lead the engineering effort and perform new product development for the Customers various new products. This includes product conception through product launch, involving simple to complex products and product lines.
Mechanical design of new products
Use statistics, modeling, DOE, smart-testing, and other techniques to mitigate risk
Education/Knowledge/Experience:
BSME
A minimum of 5+ years of applicable engineering experience in new product design and development.
3D CAD experience required, Solid Works experience preferred
Experience with ASME design, dimensioning, and tolerancing
Experience in mold-flow analysis desired
Skills/Aptitudes:
Additional computer skills at an intermediate level: word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
5,000 hours minimum CAD (on the job) design experience
General Mechanical Engineering analysis (stress, thermal)
Solid design experience to include injection molded plastics.
Good knowledge of engineering materials to include plastics for molding and machining.
Knowledge of medium volume manufacturing processes including metal fabrication, and plastic injection molding.
Familiar with product safety compliance test standards.
Under limited supervision from Engineering Manager, exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation of results.
Interfaces with Engineering and other departments, must have very good written and oral communication skills.
